The queen of country pop, Shania Twain, is back and selling out tour
The queen of country pop, Shania Twain, brought her Queen of Me tour to Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheater in California for a sold-out show on Sunday, May 26th. Everyone in attendance was excited and ready to party outfitted with cowboy boots and hats. Some even had bedazzled jean jackets with the infamous Shania Twain quote, “Let’s Go Girls” embellished on the back. The vibes were high and everyone was prepared to see the queen in style for what is being called her Renaissance year. Queen Of Me, her sixth studio album since 2017, was released earlier this year in February.
Opening the show was Hailey Whitters, she played a short 30 minute set featuring her country hit, “Everything She Ain’t”. At 9 o’clock it was time for Shania who appeared in secret on the divide between the lower and the upper bowl amongst fans as her song “Waking Up Dreaming” rang out.
Dressed incognito in a black coat and large sunglasses Twain performed to the surprised audience making her way from one end of the amphitheater to the other. She disappeared on one side and then later reappeared on stage just in time for the next song “Up!”. Right before Shania was back on stage in her new glittery outfit there was a projection of a rocket that literally took off as she appeared on the risers and the song roared to a start.
The practically two-hour-long set consisted of a great mix of songs new and old, all of which the audience sang loudly along to. The projection visuals featured “Twain Town Saloon”, a fictionalized country saloon on another planet that we crash-landed on featuring a little green alien man and horses that sometimes run across the backdrop making for a fun and interesting theme.
For the ballad “From This Moment”, Twain’s crew brought up a dozen or so lucky couples who stood around pub tables and were serenaded on stage by Shania for a very special moment they’ll never forget. These lucky couples weren’t the only lucky people Shania Twain brought on stage though because she also surprised her number one fan who wrote her a touching letter. It took this lucky fan some time to make his way down from the upper lawn so Shania pointed out a little boy who was on his daddy’s shoulders and was wearing a cowboy hat. Shania called him on stage and asked him his name and age and what his favorite song was; it was “Inhale/Exhale AIR” or as he called it, “the air song”. In addition to singing “Inhale/Exhale AIR” and “Number One Fan”, Shania also performed (songs not in order), “Don’t Be Stupid”, “Still The One”, “Giddy Up!”, “Pretty Liar”, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”, “Any Man Of Mine”, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under”, “Forever And For Always”, “Roll Me On The River”, “Honey, I’m Home”, and “Rock This Country”.
Finally, for an epic encore, Shania Twain came out in the iconic cheetah print outfit from the 1997 music video “Don’t Impress Me Much” saying that she brought it out of retirement. Shania Twain went on to perform this song as well as her smash hit, “Man! I Feel Like A Women”.
All in all, it is safe to say that Shania Twain has taken her throne as the Queen of Country Pop and is not going anywhere anytime soon. Don’t miss her if she’s coming to a town near you.
