Thurston Moore at The Empty Bottle, Chicago
On December 13th 2019, The Thurston Moore Group performed at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, with support by Devin Brahja Waldman. The venue was a perfect setting for the show, providing an up close and personal atmosphere, soon to be amplified by the performance. Thurston Moore took the stage and the audience’s attention instantly gravitated towards him and his players — from the first strum to the last chord, nobody spoke. Perhaps the most genuine aspect of the performance was the complete lack of vocals throughout it. This allowed everyone — no matter their age, language or beliefs — to feel in touch with the music. The sound, the vibrations… they all blended together into one sense. Even with eyes closed, you could see the color that the musicians let flow into the room.

The Thurston Moore Group used interesting techniques that set everyone in awe. They allowed the audience to take with them something unforgettable, even after the night ended. A raw, human experience. Thurston Moore, Steve Shelley, James Sedwards, Deb Googe and Wobbly finished up their Spirit Counsel Tour 2019, but you can still catch them in 2020! Be sure to check out tour dates and their new album, Spirit Counsel, available now on all digital outlets.
