10th Annual Dancefestopia revealed for fall in Kansas City

High energy is the best way to describe Dancefestopia in Kansas City. With more than 150 artists over the span of six days, September 6th through 11th, there is plenty to keep you busy at this 100% local, independently operated and funded music festival — one of the few remaining in the United States. If you are looking for fresh air, good vibes and electric sounds, Dancefestopia is the best place for you and your crew.

Since its founding over 11 years ago, Dancefestopia strives to be a home of happiness, love and celebration.

The festival wants you to enjoy the presence of nature, good music and truly connect you back to your life away from your day job. And, the fest is breaking out the big guns this year to help celebrate its 10th year at the Emerald City and, by big guns, I mean artists like Louis the Child, deadmau5, Seven Lions and Ganja White Night as headliners. These electronic artists are not only known for being amazing live, but whole interactive performances they put on for fans and combining them all into one lineup is something EDM fans can only dream of.

Not only are the headliners going to blow your mind, but with supporting acts like Black Tiger Sex Machine, Elderbrook, Midnight Tyrannosaurus and so many more, this lineup is guaranteed to rock your world. It’s going to be a rough case of the Sunday scaries when the festival ultimately comes to an end.

One of my personal favorite things about Dancefestopia is their emphasis on connecting back to nature. The festival is held at the Wildwood Outdoor Education Center and the stages are surrounded by hills and lush green forests, plus even a little lake. The festival encourages people to camp onsite in the woods, really wanting guests to utilize the nature around them. To me, it feels like going back to summer sleep-away camp and, as an adult, you don’t have the opportunity to partake in something like that like you did when you were nine.

The festival has five main stages you can make your way to from your home base, whether that’s your campsite or car.

Emerald Stage is the main event stage, where headliners, LED lights and fireworks are not only a given, but expected to wow you. The Lollipop Stage is where you will want to go to see up-and-coming artists and where the winners of the Yellow Brick Road Tour (held across the country) will get a chance to perform for crowds. They also offer Rekinection Experience, which blends music, meditation, yoga and aerial fire dances all festival long. The Panky Rang Renegade Bus offers exclusive late-night secret sets and new to 2022 is the Emerald Forest Stage that will feature a silent disco for campers only.

With all of this being offered, you may be wondering how much will you have to dish out to get your tickets? A three-day general admission ticket will only run you $199, not including fees. If you plan on camping for the whole duration of the festival, that will be an additional $169, but if you want to camp only for the weekend, it’s only an additional $69. Remember if you camp onsite as well, there are exclusive options available only to campers! If you are ready to dance your heart out, see some trippy light shows and enjoy nature around you, Dancefestopia is the best place for you.
