Iowa’s best kept secret, the Hinterland music festival, is back for 2026! The four-day camping event — hosted at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in St. Charles, Iowa, just outside of Des Moine — is showcasing its most exciting lineup to date, with massive names attached like KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, and Kali Uchis.
The fest is clearly stepping up this year!
Taking place from July 30th to August 2nd, Hinterland is both large and intimate, mainstream and fringe, with something for everyone to enjoy. Direct support includes incredible indie acts beabadoobee, Ashnikko, Audrey Nuna, Muna, Snow Strippers, Paris Paloma, Jessie Murph, The Format, Santigold, Young Miko, Geese, and Wet Leg, with other notable names like EDM-infused Pixel Grip and folk-favorites The Brook & The Bluff entertaining crowds during the daytime — just to name a few.
And there is more than just music! The festival also features a vast array of shopping options called the HinterMarket, where attendees can peruse clothing, art, music, and all sorts of other items that you won’t find at the mall back home.
If you’re feeling crafty, head to Miniland, a creative experience focused on DIY arts and crafts that the entire family can enjoy together. Equipped with all sorts of fun activities, like a “chill-zone”, where fans can take a break from the summer heat and relax, carnival games, and it’s own entire lineup of family friendly musical acts, Miniland offers a space where all ages can participate in the fun.
For the early risers, there is also morning yoga every day of the festival, so attendees can ground themselves and have a moment of mindfulness before the day’s festivities begin. Following yoga there will also be 10-15-minute sound baths to soothe and calm the soul.
1-day, 2-day, and 4-day wristbands are still available on the Hinterland website, but expect them to go fast, as this stacked lineup is sure to draw in people from across the country.
