19th Annual Download Festival to disrupt the UK

19th Annual Download Festival to disrupt the UK

The UK’s Premiere Rock Festival returns for its 19th year this summer! Located in Derby, where the three counties of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire meet, Download Festival will be taking over Donington Park on June 10th, 11th and 12th, with over 60 bands across four stages.

This racetrack-turned-festival grounds will feature Main Stage headlining performances from rock legends KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro. Also performing on the main stage are fan-favorites A Day To Remember, Deftones, Korn, Skindred, Shinedown and Volbeat.

All of the bands featured on the Main Stage are Download veterans, having performed one or more of the fest’s previous years.

The Second Stage will feature cult classics, such as Megadeth, Steel Panther, Airborne, Mastodon, The Darkness and more. Canadian metal band Spiritbox will be making their Download Festival debut on the Avalanche Stage, which is hosted by Kerrang! Radio. Also appearing on the Avalanche Stage are some of the most exciting up-and-coming bands in the hard rock scene, including The Ghost Inside, Funeral for a Friend, Descendents, Holding Absence, Boston Manor, Trash Boat and Grandson. The Dogtooth Stage will feature artists such as Electric Wizard, Sepultura and a special acoustic performance from Myles Kennedy.

Along with festival performances, there are an array of add-ons and camping options that can enhance the festival experience available to ticket holders. There are options to purchase access to luxury toilets and showers, as well as locker rentals. Additionally, ticket holders can choose from five or three nights of camping at three different campsites — all with varying levels of additional entertainment. There is a standard camping option, a quiet camping option (which has a sound curfew of midnight), as well as an eco-camping option.

Big Green Coach will be providing coach transportation options from 69 different cities from around the UK, directly to the festival grounds. All coaches are scheduled to arrive prior to doors of the festival opening and will return after all music has finished. There are single-day transfer options from a short list of locations. Big Green Coach claims to have transported “thousands of Download festival goers over the past four years, making it one of the Greenest Rock festivals around!”

The 2022 installation of the festival is set to be returning for the first time in its full capacity since 2019. The festival was canceled in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. An online event was scheduled to replace the 2020 event, but it was inevitably canceled, as well. It was announced on the 26th of May that the 2021 installation of Download would take place as part in a UK government events research programme to trail large events. Only 10,000 fans were admitted, compared to the usual attendance of 120,000 people.

This is an all-ages festival, but anyone under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. For more information regarding festival tickets, add-ons, camping and coach services, visit Download’s website.
