After a concert-less year in 2020, festivals are making their comeback! One of the biggest festivals each year is Aftershock in Northern California, who announced a larger than life lineup for 2021! Presented by Danny Wimmer, the return of Aftershock (a.k.a. the west coast’s biggest rock festival) heads back to Discovery Park in Sacramento this October 7th through 10th.
Not many festivals span four days, but Aftershock says ‘why not?’!
The expanded 2021 event will be bigger and better than ever, including the new Thursday night concert, presented by Jack Daniels. Thursday will be an epic celebratory evening to kick off the anticipated return of the festival that has sold out for the last five consecutive years. Earlier, in summer 2020, Aftershock announced its rescheduled year’s event with Metallica scheduled to perform two sets on two different nights of the festival (October 8th and 10th). The Original Misfits is scheduled to jam on October 9th with the added fourth night on Thursday, Oct. 7th free only to ticket purchasers who deferred their 2020 tickets to 2021. Headlining that exclusive first night of the festival is Limp Bizkit.
Joining already announced headliners are Rancid, The Offspring, Machine Gun Kelly, Rise Against, Social Distortion, Mastodon, Pennywise, Anthrax, Gojira, Live, Seether, Volbeat, and many more! Seriously, there will be Testament, Exodus, Knocked Loose, Fit For A King and Oxymorrons. SEETHER will be there, alongside Dropkick Murphys, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies, Avatar, Pop Evil, Butcher Babies, Des Rocs, Ayron Jones, Crobot, Cleopatrick, Ego Kill Talent, Crown Lands, UnityTX and Contracult Collective. Saturday brings with it Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Asking Alexandria, Body Count, Badflower, Anti-Flag, August Burns Red, Atreyu, Bones UK, South of Eden, The Black Moods, Another Day Dawns and American Teeth. And, if you haven’t had enough yet, Sunday closes with aforementioned headliners with direct support by In This Moment, Black Veil Brides, Steel Panther, Yelawolf, .grandson, From Ashes To New, Alien Weaponry, LAW, The Blue Stones, The Contortionist, Higher Power, Creeper and The Cold Stares.
Rancid is very excited, saying, “We can’t wait to play at Aftershock 2021 with our Bay Area brothers Metallica. We first played with them on the Lollapalooza tour in 1996, along with the Ramones and, later down the road, we toured across South America together. It’s gonna be wild — see ya in the pit!”
With genres from metal and alternative rock to hip hop, alt EDM and pop punk, Aftershock has it all! Festivalgoers are encouraged to buy early and save, since three-Day and single day pass prices will increase in the coming weeks. Four-day passes are very limited and there will be no single-day passes sold for Thursday night.
