Saltwater Slide — a conscious reggae-rock band from San Antonio, Texas — has been working hard all year long to bring their listeners a new single every month. The original lineup formed in February 2016; it was November of 2018 when members Vincent Ashley, Alex Roca and Edson Martinez partnered with a local band Vibe Factory to add two new members, Brock Butler and Andrew Owens, to complete the current five-piece. The additions have generated a surge of energy in the band, leading to their recent success of having a new single scheduled to drop every month leading up to their first full-length album, hinting to be available at the end of the year.
The album will include dub versions of their latest singles, too! Saltwater Slide has been inspired by acts like Fortunate Youth, Passafire, The Expanders, Arise Roots, Bumpin Uglies, Iya Terra, Tribal Seeds, DUBBEST, Roots of a Rebellion, Pepper, The Skints and Rebelution. The band’s fan support helped them secure a spot at the first annual Weekend at Wolfie’s, a weekend camping music festival in Pennsylvania, hosted by ska band Bumpin Uglies. The festival was a success and they could not have been happier to be part of a solid lineup that included many talented east coast reggae bands.
Saltwater Slide is leading the way for the Texas reggae scene…
Saltwater Slide is leading the way for the Texas reggae scene by not only promoting conscious messages through their music, but following through by their actions. When they’re not working on music, the group is focused on promoting environmental awareness and has hosted countless beach cleanups and community service events. Their most recent event, The Texas Reggae Beach Cleanup, was a two-day free event held in Corpus Christi. They recruited 14 bands, friends, family and volunteers to make this event a success. When asked about hometown shows, the band shares, “It’s so much fun to hear what parts everyone likes and their favorite lyrics from certain songs. [Our] friends and family are really enjoying all the new material that has been released so far, well… our moms, at least! Fans tell us how they appreciate that the songs are conscious and relatable. We have had such great turnouts, lots of help from fans and some cool barbecues.”

The band adds, “We would like to tell all our friends, fans and family we love y’all! Thank you so much for the love and support, we could not do any of this without you guys. We would also like to give a big thank you to our producer Richard Thurman at RTE Studios. Thurman has been helping us with recording, mixing and mastering all our recent releases. Thank you much RTE Studios all love.”
