California Roots returns to Monterey County Fairgrounds for yet another incredible year of music and fun for 2020. The event in its 11th year continually impresses fans and 2020’s round two lineup announcement brings about a new sound, along with recurring favorites.
The first round of artists, announced on October 22nd, wowed fans as we realized heavyweights for 2020 will be Ice Cube, Damian Marley, Chronixx and Jimmy Cliff! The lineup also included new and old favorites, like J Boog, Trevor Hall, Durand Jones and the Indications, Tarrus Riley, Natiruts, HIRIE, Iya Terra, Mike Love, Satsang, Bumpin Uglies and Vana Liya. With such a stacked round one announcement, fans were left wanting and anticipating round two’s day to shine!
The round two lineup features a dose of fresh new acts, such as GRAMMY award winning artist Sean Paul…
In August, California Roots partnered with Reggae Rise Up — the leading reggae fest on the east coast — for future festivals. After this announcement came, fans began to wonder how this would affect both festivals going forward and how it might improve both events. It seemed after Cali Root’s round one announcement that the east coast is definitely coming to the west coast and vice versa.
That said, last Friday on December 7th, festival co-owner Dan Sheehan and Rebelution lead vocalist Eric Rachmany announced the California Roots 2020 round two lineup on Sirius XM, The Joint‘s exclusive Cali Roots Radio. The round two lineup features a dose of fresh new acts, such as GRAMMY award winning artist Sean Paul, along with bands never before seen on the Cali Roots stages, like Cultura Profetica, EarthKry, Kezmandi and Artikal Sound System.
The round two announcement also included returning favorites such as Rebelution, Atmosphere, Tribal Seeds, The Green, The Expendables, The Movement, The Elovaters and Arise Roots. Out of all the bands announced thus far, who are you most excited to see? Tell us as you grab your tickets, going on sale to the public tomorrow, December 9th, at 10am PST!
