The UK ska-reggae outfit Gentleman’s Dub Club makes a gallant return with “Honey”, featuring the sweet vocal talents of Hollie Cook! The single follows November’s “Castle In The Sky” release for GDC and is coupled with the exciting announcement of the lads’ eighth studio album to come! Down To Earth, available March 19th via Easy Star Records, is sure to render GDC even more sovereign on the global reggae scale, especially after their smash Lost In Space full-length release of 2019 and their collaboration with legends The Nextmen before that!

With layers of reverb and echoing horns, “Honey” saturates your eardrums like warm sensory luxury. Jazz and reggae elements collide, woven around harmonized vocals… just like the opening lyrics of the song, GDC and Hollie Cook know “how to draw me in”. Indulgence is the name of the game, for “forbidden fruit” tastes better than no fruit at all. Some infatuations are downright carnal — just ask a honeybee.
GDC comments on the forthcoming album: “The writing of ‘Down To Earth’ coincided with a time not only of international existential crisis, but also of our own personal realization that the future for live music — the main platform and ultimately life force of GDC — was up in the air. We decided that ‘Down To Earth’ should be a snapshot of that point in time, where everyone was able (for better or worse) to reflect on their role in the world around them and consider the past, present and future inside the vacuum of lockdown. While it’s a deeply personal album, the themes and sentiments on the album are universal and point towards a future that values love and understanding over conflict and hate.“
