Political activist, record producer, and worldwide musician, Nattali Rize, previously known as Natalie Magdalena Chilcote, has come a long way since her days as a street percussionist in New South Wales, Australia in the early 2000’s. She has since formed the group Blue King Brown, which quickly gained an international presence known for their strong political stance and high-energy performances. In 2014, the group relocated to Jamaica, where she began working on her solo career and created the stage name, Nattali Rize, inspired by Bob Marley’s lyrics for “Rise Up”. She joined forces with Jamaican-based group, Notis, and released her first single, “Rebel Love”, followed by a nine-track EP titled New Era Frequency. Nattali Rize has spent the last two years touring alongside the likes of Michael Franti and Spearhead, Katchafire, Third World, J Boog, and Tribal Seeds – and this is still only the beginning of Nattali’s ever-rizing movement!
“We’re here to deliver a different frequency to what is being transmitted by the current world system, and culture of consumerism, and mental slavery.”
Top Shelf Reggae is excited to announce that Nattali Rize will be releasing her debut, full-length album, Rebel Frequency, on March 24th, 2017. The album will be released through Rootfire Cooperative/Baco Records. Rootfire Cooperative is a unique not-for-profit label, whose mission of spreading conscious messages perfectly align with the messages rooted in Nattali Rize’s Rebel Frequency. Baco Records is her European label, whose goal is to help Nattali’s overall vision of complete freedom and “full systemic overhaul” reach as many ears as possible. “Super excited to be working with this new and amazing team of like minds to deliver music to the masses. The music biz is shifting: musicians need to shift with it, and create new pathways and concepts,” states Nattali.
Rebel Frequency was written and recorded at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios, as well as some recording done at Rize’s home studios built in Australia and Jamaica. This world traveler has run-down any artist barriers, and created an album about strengthening your mental and spiritual freedom in addition to standing up to resist the oppression. Nattali asserts, “we’re here to deliver a different frequency to what is being transmitted by the current world system, and culture of consumerism, and mental slavery. Our words, melodies, rhythms, and intentions are to empower and inspire full freedom – that frequency is a rebel in this paradigm.”
Nattali Rize has already made a big splash in the music industry internationally, so the release of this debut album is expected to stir the pot even more. The songs on Rebel Frequency hold powerful messages that break down the construct of all tyrannical systems, insisting that listeners remain attentive to the lyrics that accompany the heavy riddims on songs, like the title track “Rebel Frequency”, or spacey tracks, like “Ever Rizing Dub”. Fans will be pleased to know guest features on the album include Julian Marley, Kabaka Pyramid, Jah9, Raging Fyah, Notis Heavyweightrockas, and Dre Island. Be on the look out for Rebel Frequency available on all digital outlets on March 24th, and check out upcoming tour dates below to be a part of Nattali Rize’s global mission: to uplift, unify consciousness, and Rize together!
