One of the longest tenured bands in the genre today, Slightly Stoopid is set to embark on an extensive summer tour. Their “Everything Is Awesome” tour kicks off on July 8th in Simsbury, Connecticut and will feature the likes of Dirty Heads as well as select appearances by The Expendables and Stick Figure. In addition to their twenty five show tour schedule, Slightly Stoopid will also perform in ten upcoming music festivals, perhaps the most notable being their May 24 performance at California Roots in Monterey, California!
Slightly Stoopid has continually produced some of the most iconic west coast reggae music.
Signed out of high school by late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell in 1995, Slightly Stoopid has continually produced some of the most iconic west coast reggae music. Infused with elements of rock, bluegrass, punk, dub, and folk, the Stoopid sound is one that never ceases to surprise. And while their style has kept evolving over the years they have been together so too has their fan base. Slightly Stoopid tracks are listened to by a younger generation as well as those old enough to be their parents which is predictable given that their career spans the age of your typical college sophomore!
Hailing from Long Beach, the band has enjoyed commercial success with their last three albums Chronchitis (2007), Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid (2008), and their most recent Top Of The World (2012). The last album was perhaps their biggest step into the mainstream as it reached #13 on the Billboard 200, the band also played the title track “Top Of The World” off their last album on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Slightly Stoopid stylistic diversity has permeated through pop culture like no other reggae band.
