Five piece Florida alt-reggae band Sway Jah Vu are gearing up to release a new EP titled In the Company of Wolves on March 29th, 2016. In advance of the release, Top Shelf Reggae is excited to bring you an exclusive first listen to a new track from the album, “Happy Ever After.”
“You can make your own way and you can make yourself happy along the way.”
“This track is about consciously making yourself a person, and specifically making yourself the person you WANT to be. You don’t have to fit into a predetermined mold that someone else created for you, and you don’t have to live a life that someone else decided for you either. You can make your own way and you can make yourself happy along the way.”
In the Company of Wolves will be the band’s second studio album, and first since 2014’s Stealing Secrets. The new album is an intimate take on Sway Jah Vu’s strain of roots music, which blends reggae, soul, jazz, and funk. Lead vocalist Travis Cockerham’s thoughtful lyrics and signature vocal tone would make any Sway Jah Vu release worth a listen, but the band expands in all the right ways for their sophomore EP. In the Company of Wolves grows that melodically punchy tone into a dynamic, finely tuned blend of alt-reggae while staying true to their mission of creating a cultural sway.
