Thrive from Santa Cruz, California has come out with an EP just released on July 7th. Staying true to their unique reggae-rock sound and various influences, the band once again releases an album true to their roots. Not only is it highly-influenced from the California lifestyle, it is a highly creative album.

The EP starts with the song, “The Gift,” which showcases strong keys and horns, and features guest singer, Trevor Young. Aaron Borowitz appears to always come through with his vocals, as do his fellow band mates throughout the entire album. And, then there is that great bass playing. To add, the use of trumpet is very apparent in this EP and that may act as a dedication to their late band member and saxophone player, Scott Schipper, who will always be recognized and remembered.
The song “One” is very unique and showcases the influence of drummer, Kenneth Rogers. The lyrics are reminiscent of “Freedom of Speech” from the band’s Gratitude Attitude album. As with the song, “Mother Earth,” the band appears to bring attention to important societal issues.
