Our guest for this episode is David Teague (aka, Teague Bass). Touted as one of the most talented bassists in Asia, this “bassist” for hire is a versatile musician whose vast repertoire spans across blues, rock, R&B, jazz, hip hop, house, reggae, ska and pop. A dynamic and energetic performer, Teague’s onstage performance and showmanship are legendary in Singapore and throughout the surrounding regions. Born and raised in Michigan, Teague now resides in Asia; he fell in love with the music scene and culture after initially touring the region 25 years ago and decided to make it his home.
With a career spanning over three decades, Teague has opened for legendary acts such as Metallica and performed and toured worldwide with music legends like Alexander O’Neal, Cherell, Vesta Williams, Cynthia Johnson, Michael Bland and Rocky Robins. Since the 80s, he has toured USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Japan, Taiwan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Germany.
Currently, Teague performs with the Luke Buirski Project (LBP), Adjazent and JS Funk, as well as his original project, Dirty Perfect.
He is also an ambassador and artist for the up-and-coming social network, Yay+. The platform supports independent artists and connects them to others around the globe. As a member of Yay+, Eclectic Soundtrax host Skunk Manhattan got to connect with Teague and it was an absolute delight to speak with from his home in Malaysia! In this episode, we talk about his career, the surrounding area’s culture and cuisine, influences, Yay+ and more. He even showed us a stellar view of Singapore from his apartment (available on our YouTube channel).
Teague truly has the right attitude when it comes to his career as a musician and life in general. He always plays with passion, loves to perform and to share the joy of his craft through the universal language of music. “When I’m onstage, nothing else matters except my bass, the audience and creating magic,” Teague comments.

About the podcasters
Skunk Manhattan:
Skunk is a musician, primarily known as the frontman and guitarist for eclectic heavy-rock band A Good Rogering. Since moving to Austin in 2004, he has recorded and performed with a wide variety of bands and solo artists over a career spanning more than 20 years and has shared the stage with notable acts, such as Skid Row, Marty Friedman, Uli Jon Roth, George Lynch and Metal Church among others. Skunk not only works as a performing musician and recording artist, but also as a producer and music teacher. With two decades of insight into what it means to be a professional musician and a passion for not only music, but comedy and general chatter, Skunk was quick to jump at the opportunity to co-host a podcast with longtime friend, Victor Ramos.
Victor Ramos:
A Texas native, Victor’s early musical influences are a mixture of classic rock albums played by his Vietnam vet father and a whole lot of ‘the Fab Four’ via his Beatles-loving mother. Sprinkle in some classic country and Motown, and you have a man that would say “¿que?” when other Tejanos would ask what his favorite cumbia was. After a stint in the Marines, Victor moved to Austin in 2000 and began working in the tech industry. He met Skunk in a Spanish class in 2005 and the two discovered a shared passion for not only beer, but music. After years of collectively attending concerts and talking music, the idea to start a podcast centering around such topics seemed like a logical endeavor.
