Steel Panther warms up for upcoming world tour in San Luis Obispo

Steel Panther, a comedic glam metal band from Los Angeles has been bringing us their hilarious take on profane stereotypical rocker lifestyle since the early 2000s under a variety of band names including “Metal Shop,” “Metal Skool” and then finally “Steel Panther.” The band’s Sunset Strip days consisted of a slightly different line up than we got to see earlier this month. Long time bassist, Travis Haley (“Lexxi Foxx”) left the band in July 2021 and for the last two years Steel Panther had been hosting virtual auditions for his replacement. Joe Lester (“Spyder”) has since transitioned from tour manager to full-time bassist and will be joining the band for his first full tour as such. 

California was treated to a handful of “warm up” weekends as the world waits in anticipation for the release of the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, On the Prowl, set to be released February 23rd. A full world tour will follow where fans will be treated to a night of musical hilarity with support from Crobot and Tragedy on the North American dates.

On January 7th, Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo proudly hosted a “warm up” show of the rock legends with special guest The L.A. Maybe. The L.A. Maybe, a new wave rock group, started the evening off melting faces with song after song. Hailing from North Carolina, The L.A. Maybe brought strong AC/DC x Van Halen vibes to the night that ended up being the perfect addition to segue into the exaggerated pastiche that Steel Panther fans adore.

It wasn’t long before the stage switched over to one of the craziest and raunchiest bands out there, Steel Panther, playing hit after hit In awesome outfits, no less.

Bringing people up on stage and acting like fools getting the crowd hyped. If The L.A. Maybe or Steel Panther play a city near you, make sure you go and catch them, you never know what you’re gonna get into when seeing Steel Panther.
