The Candle Bombs make their debut with “Candyland” single

What the world needs more of is a return to that good ‘ol rock-and-roll sound. Multi-instrumentalist Brian Davis lives and breathes this ethos, heading up several hot projects out of San Diego, including a Zeppelin tribute band, Zeptune, in which he not only nails the vocals, but Robert Plant‘s all-around aura! Zeptune is always a raucous party, if you want a trip to the mid-70s sometime in Southern California.

Always in search of his next adventure, Davis began to lay down tracks of his own in his spare time.

Like we said, he lives and breathes music, and won’t stop until he’s at the top. His solo ventures in the studio had him playing everything — from guitar and bass to drums and keys — which ultimately culminated in a project he calls The Candle Bombs. He even mixed and mastered everything himself!

Debuting with the single “Candyland”, a song about “old Hollywood, in all its weird awesomeness” (his words), Davis has since paired up with Al Shapiro (bass / keys) and Randy Hild (keys and percussion) to take his vision out of the studio to the performance stage. Bursting with punk angst, “Candyland” — like Los Angeles — is a sweet place until you bite into the nitty gritty of it.

The single is available to stream on Soundcloud and Spotify today, with a physical release on color ’45s in 2025, if purists want to get their hands on the first pressings! Vinyl junkies, head to Winston’s in Ocean Beach for those bad boys in the New Year. In the meantime, make sure to follow The Candle Bombs via the links below.
