Bret Bollinger breaks stage at KROQ’s Huntington Beach concert series

Along the sunny seaside coast of Surf City, USA, KROQ radio’s Roq the Ocean Series returned to the Ocean Deck at Pacific City in Huntington Beach, CA. The insane local bands’ Solution and Bikini Trill opened for the infamous Bret Bollinger and The Bad Habits as they entertained fans on the stage overlooking Pacific Coast Highway.

As the late summer sun set into the glistening Pacific Ocean behind the world-famous Huntington Beach Pier, local band Solution took to the stage. Their powerful set brought the crowd in to experience their raucous reggae-rock sound. The boys from Solution are no strangers to the reggae family. Having opened for Seedless, Fortunate Youth and Pato Banton in the past, they were also finalists in the 2013 OC Music Awards Showcase Series.

Bollinger’s high-energy antics led to the demise of the stage, as it started to collapse while fans sang along to “F*ck Around (All Night)”.

Bikini Trill — fresh off a tour with 311, Dirty Heads and the Interrupters — lit up the crowd as they performed fan favorites like “Sticky Treez” and a stellar cover of Sublime’s “Scarlet Begonias”. Lead singer LJ’s powerful and crisp vocals, backed by her funky band of boys, engaged the crowd with their set of ‘cosmic surf pop’. They successfully entertained their loyal fans, as well as winning over new ones with the band, proving they have earned their tour spots. Be sure to catch Bikini Trill this fall with Katastro on the Tropical Heartbreak Tour.

Suffice it to say that Pacific City was not prepared for what came next. The party officially started as Bret Bollinger and The Bad Habits took to the stage in true form. Lighting the crowd up with songs like “Sober” from the recent album release Lo-Fi and a few Pepper fan favorites. Bollinger’s high-energy antics led to the demise of the stage, as it started to collapse while fans sang along to “F*ck Around (All Night)”.  Keeping the good vibes of the evening going, Bret invited bass player Andre Davis’ dad to play along with them for a song and he killed it! Guitarist Jeff Nisen, drummer Patrick Salmon and Davis kept the fans engaged with their mad musical skills going through the full set. Bollinger closed the night jumping rope with the mic cord, nearly bringing down the entire stage, as his manager invited fans to the Bollinger booth for a meet-and-greet with Bret.

Pacific City might not ever be the same, but what a fantastic night of good music and friends! Be sure to check out Bret Bollinger and The Bad Habits in a city near you!
