Social Distortion’s 5-show run in San Diego rounds out the year
On December 22nd, Social Distortion played their third night of five at The Observatory North Park in San Diego. They were supported by The Hangmen, a really fun band from Los Angeles. Built in 1929, The Observatory theater in North Park is a great venue to catch a show; I’ve always loved all the older decor and the way it feels there!
The Hangmen came out first, hitting the stage hard and fast in true punk rock form.
I’ve only seen them a couple times, but I really like them. They instantly get the crowd moving and in the right frame of mind for a rowdy night. Like the two previous nights, The Hangmen were then followed by veteran rockers Social Distortion, blasting merriment into everyone to match the holidays. They played all the fan-favorites, like “Machine Gun Blues”, “Sick Boys”, “Dear Lover”, and “Mommy’s Little Monster”, closing out the night playing an encore of “Story of My Life”, “Ring of Fire”, and “Bad Luck”. Social Distortion has been putting on amazing shows for 40 years and this was no different — with two more to go!
