What do Sublime with Rome, Dirty Heads, Fortunate Youth, The Aggrolites, KBong and DENM all have in common? Besides the fact they’re all from SoCal and make the music we love, if you guessed they’re all on the lineup for Bayfest San Diego 2021, you’d be correct! This one-day festival is returning July 10th to the breezy shores of downtown San Diego’s Embarcadero Waterfront Park, replete with taco trucks, craft beer and cocktails, and local vendors. Bringing you this reggae-heavy lineup are the former organizers of Oysterfest and presented by Koi CBD, so you’re all but guaranteed a good time with unmatched energy to boot (or to flip flop). It’s the first of its kind, post-quarantine in San Diego, so avoid the inevitable FOMO and get your ticket to Vibefest, I mean, Bayfest!
Headlining this coastal soiree are some our favorite southern California ba(n)d boys — and all on one stage!
Choosing who to watch and listen to isn’t a thing here at Bayfest, thankfully. For your auditory pleasure, organizers brought in Sublime and Dirty Heads — both of whom are practically our theme music for life ‘round these parts. This is because, if you live down in San Diego, every day is like being on vacation (at least weather-wise). Catch them alongside left coast reggae fixtures The Aggrolites, Fortunate Youth, San-Diego-by-way-of-Hawai’i KBong and newcomer DENM, whose debut EP Slum Beach Denny dropped last month. Did I mention some of San Diego’s best DJ’s will be spinning between sets? DJ Green T, Who, Unite and Scooter are filling the airwaves, so there won’t be a single moment without music! Sounds like heaven. Paired with a craft beer and some carnitas tacos, July 10th is sure to be an unmissable day of music for any diehard west coast reggae fan.
Tickets for this day of waterfront dance vibes are currently on sale, with general admission coming in at an affordable $50. Upgrade your experience to the VIP package for $250 and enjoy clutch amenities and conveniences like expedited entry, pit access, an additional private viewing platform, VIP-only bathrooms, shaded cabanas with seating and private bar. Not to mention you get your own souvenir laminate! [Insert the “I’m with the band” scene from Almost Famous here.] Gates open at noon and close at 10pm; there is also no re-entry or outside food or beverages, so plan accordingly. One last thing we want to encourage all Bayfest-goers is to please walk, bike, ride share, taxi or trolley to Waterfront Park. Parking is extremely limited!
