Perry and Etty Lau Farrell have done it once again! On July 7th, they brought to the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles a carnival-type concert atmosphere with the second installment of Heaven After Dark, with headliners Porno for Pyros.
The evening events began in the intimate Vintage Bar and Lounge, covered in beautiful flowers
and foliage. Exotic pole-dancers showed their extreme talents as Stephen Perkins (of Porno for Pyros) showcased his mad drum skills. Afterward, Perkins paused to chat with fans and take photos before heading off to prepare to play with Porno for Pyros.
Throughout the night, stilt walkers and drag queens with light-up parasols wandered the crowd.
With an appearance by the devil and an angel, too. The exotic Love Bailey was back to entertain fans and introduce the incredible bands in the main room. The first opening band, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, blew the crowd away! The incredibly talented LA transplants got the fans warmed up. Next to the stage was the massively larger-than-life, LA-based Starcrawler. Both bands are amazing and worth checking out!
Next up was Perry & Etty Lau Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra. The band performed a few of
their hits, along with a cover of “I Drove All Night”. Perry shared how memorable that song was
to the two of them, with Etty singing it on her way over for late-night visits when they first dated. Porno For Pyros then finally took to the stage! The original lineup of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Martyn Le Noble and Peter DiStefano returned after a 26-year hiatus. Etty Lau reappeared on the stage with the band as one of two backup singers accompanying the band. Starting with the track “Porno for Pyros”, their sound was on point with the crowd shouting back the lyrics with fervor. The band covered every song you would want to hear: “Devil In Me”, “Mejia”, “Cursed Female” and “Cursed Male”. Of course, Perry took a moment to address his feelings regarding the overturn of Roe v. Wade, stating “tonight, we are going to dance and celebrate!”
The band continued with “Pets”, “Bad Shit” and “Wishing Well”. Their performance stirred up a few moshpits throughout the night, too! The band also brought out a surprise guest — guitar legend, Gilby Clark (of Guns N’ Roses) — for a cover of Janes Addiction‘s “1%”. The exuberant band closed the night out with Perry centerstage crooning “Tahitian Moon”. This was one reunion, well worth the wait!
