Iration has long since cemented their reign in the reggae rock scene, with six full-length albums, countless singles, a multitude of music videos and tours around the world since their formation over 15 years ago. It’s pointless to argue anything but Iration is king. Other supreme beings in the reggae rock realm include that of Rebelution, Dirty Heads, Stick Figure, SOJA and anyone by the name of Marley. These guys are (and will always be) reggae rock heavy-hitters. Now, imagine combining one with another — now add a third! We can’t even believe it ourselves, but Iration — in anticipation of their 7th full-length album Coastin’ due out in July — has dropped an ever-so-special lead single off the LP entitled “Right Here Right Now” that has done just that.
Iration, Rebelution, Stick Figure… all in one track?!
Seems like a tall order. Yet, these Hawaiian-native, Cali-based breadwinners knew just how to pull off this reggae rock hat trick, producing this summer’s hottest jam as a result. Centering around living in the moment, “Right Here Right Now” will have you “feelin’ nice” from start to finish, like driving down the California coastline with the top down. Combining sitar and bubble organ, poppy synths with emphasizing horns, this catchy track instrumentally weaves together a myriad of constituents, matching that of the rotating vocals between bands. This piece, as a whole, is art, any angle you approach it. Lead singer Micah Peschuel shines in the first verse, followed by Rebelution’s Eric Rachmany in the second. Right when you think the track may be cutting out early with a full stop before the bridge, Stick Figure jumps in to lead listeners to the ending choruses. And, of course, no Iration song is complete without a signature extended electric guitar solo, placed elegantly on the outro this time around.
“‘Right Here, Right Now’ is a song that celebrates living in the moment,” Iration comments on the single. “We wanted to give everybody an anthem and who better to enlist than our friends Eric Rachmany from Rebelution and Stick Figure? Our new album Coastin’ is a record about being thankful for the moments that we have and this song really focuses on that. It’s such a timely message, so let’s all celebrate self-reflection and live in the present.”
