Milky Chance, the German pair of childhood chums Clemens Rehbein and Phillipp Dauschalso, known (amongst other things) for their success on the epic HBO series Euphoria, has released a few singles from their upcoming album, Living In A Haze, out this week on June 9th!
So let’s dive into what to expect. Album opener, “Living in a Haze”, pulls you into an upbeat post-Strokes rhythmic feel, with a vocal range reminiscent of Coldplay. The music is tricky and strangely beautiful… you want to keep listening to it over and over.
“Frequency of Love”, more of an ethereal flow than a traditional track, is music in its truest form.
Their celestial sounds reach heights that are soft, yet complex. As described by Rehbein, the second track “Frequency of Love” is “a pretty emotional track for us. In the writing and production process of this album, we really wanted to try out new things and dig a little deeper musically, and this song was an exciting outcome of it. It gives a hint of the range and different directions that we’ve been going with this album.” Listen here.
Still one of my faves is “Synchronize” — watch the video below! This I what believe sparked their success from the series Euphoria. For those unaware of Milky Chance’s prowess, they are a music phenomenon, with over 10 million monthly Spotify listeners, an enviable touring resume (including festivals like Coachella, Reading & Leeds, and Lollapalooza), and boast an upcoming schedule of 2023 dates that represent their biggest headlining shows of their career — a global audience, stretching from the U.S. and Mexico to Europe, Australia, and beyond!
When you find music that sounds literally out of this world, you’ve got to investigate how the band comes up with it!
Milky Chance’s musical influences come from Sublime, Bob Marley, The Police, Burna Boy, and more, steering the group into a completely different sound… creating a compilation of different landscapes, exciting experimentation, and abstract perspectives so refreshing in such world of monotony and duplication.
This summer, as mentioned above, the duo will embark on their biggest-ever North American tour, weaving their way across 48 different U.S. and Canadian cities with Young The Giant — 66 cities in total. These performances will take place in iconic venues, like New York City’s Pier 17 and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.
