Gentleman’s Dub Club drops “Use Me” video, feat. Kiko Bun

Following the success of their 2019 album Lost In Space off Easy Star Records, Gentleman’s Dub Club returns with a funky, reggae rendition of the Bill Withers hit “Use Me”. Joining the group on the cover is fellow UK reggae sensation Kiko Bun, who follows Withers’ 1972 Old Grey Whistle vocal live performance to a ‘T’, ultimately breathing new life into the well-known classic.

Nothing beats a good reggae revamp.

The music video premiered on Clash Music earlier, proffering a 1970s throwback vibe. The outfits, the color schemes… it’s such a groovy scene. GDC’s “Use Me” digital single also includes a dub version, which was mixed by Ben McKone (of General Roots). And, despite being recorded during the production of their Lost In Space album, this second stand-alone single didn’t make the cut. The band comments on the holdback:

“When we were writing Lost In Space in Wales, we had a routine of playing covers in the morning to give us inspiration for our afternoon’s writing. ‘Use Me’ is one of our all-time favorite songs and has that timeless riff that translates so well into reggae. We recorded it along with a few other covers, with a view to releasing them along the way in between albums.”
