Experiencing Boomshaka 2020
On January 18th, the Boomshaka Music Festival returned to the iconic Pechanga Arena in San Diego after taking a one-year hiatus. The festival was headlined by Iration this time around and hosted by reggae’s sweetheart, Miss HIRIE. Other acts on the bill were Cypress Hill, The Green, Don Carlos, The Movement, KBong, Sensi Trails, while DJ Alexia spun the hottest jams in between sets and Jimmy Ovadia live-painted to the side of the stage.
On January 18th, the Boomshaka Music Festival returned to the iconic Pechanga Arena in San Diego after taking a one-year hiatus.
Sensi Trails, with dinosaurs in party hats on the stage to celebrate the release of their new album Celebration, kicked the day off with an explosion of music that got the energy going for the rest of the fest. Next up was KBong, who always makes the crowd happy and gets them all dancing. Joining both was E.N Young, a hometown hero musician and producer who always shines on the melodica.
Then came The Movement, Don Carlos and The Green, all of which are known to keep the vibes going at any event. Another hometown hero, Kyle McDonald of Slightly Stoopid, joined Don Carlos’ set — which was a real treat! Cypress Hill switched up the reggae sounds for some well-known hip hop, making the crowd jump around to “Dr. Greenthumb” and other hits. Finally, crowd-favorite Iration came up and finished the night out with all the songs we love.
