With an eclectic collection featuring A-List acts in the rap, rock, and electronic genres, Hangout Fest dropped their stellar lineup at the end of 2022, making this their 11th year running. Hangout Fest, located on the sandy coast of Gulf Shores, Alabama, has been rapidly growing in popularity, thanks to well-known headlining acts and exuberant party scenes. The fest features tons of exciting activities for attendees to do, like swimming around in the in-ground pool, setting it up at the dozens of beach volleyball courts, zipping around in the roller rink, hammocks, food and DJs galore– all while enjoying the music! The festival’s rap selection features artists such as Kevin Gates, Lil Nas X, Glorilla, and SZA, who released her hit album ‘SOS’ in December of 2022 and was met with critical success. Their EDM selections include top acts such as Flume, Skrillex, Big Wild, Rezz, and Calvin Harris. Calvin Harris is fresh off his summer album drop ‘Funk Wave Bounce Vol. 2’ which also features several A-List pop artists of the decade. Lastly, rock fans can expect acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Backseat Lovers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, COIN, and Paramore, led by singer Hayley Williams and fresh off new singles late last year, mounting a major comeback.
Hangout Music Festival was founded in November 2009 by A.J. Niland, Shaul Zislin, and Lilly Zislin. The Zislins are the proprietors of “The Hangout”, the festival’s iconic namesake restaurant. All ages are welcome, but attendees under 17 must be accompanied by a ticket holder above the age of 21. The culture of the fest centers around everything beach, sun, surf, and party. Although Alabama isn’t widely known as the surf capital of the world by any means, festival goers are no stranger to havin’ a wicked time.
