On April 15, a benefit show was put on for Nick Daugherty and family to help cover medical bills after suffering a sudden and unfortunate heart attack. The show was sponsored by Tiki Killers and organized by Eye in I's Mason Ruiz at PBWLA in Pomona. It was so great seeing so many bands and people come out to support a member of our reggae family!
It was so great seeing so many bands and people come out to support a member of our reggae family!
The lineup included Small Axe Band, Eureka Sound, Skunkdub, Raw Livity, Eye in I, Special Blend, Roots of Mine and Simpkin Project. The energy was great and seeing so many people helping out by donating either time, money or merch to help one of our friends really made me happy to be a part of this. They had a raffle with donations from the bands, as well as some donations for the raffle from other bands, such as Fortunate Youth and Arise Roots. There was even some live painting during the show by artist Rick Rodriguez.
On Sunday, February 4th, 2018, Nick suffered a massive heart attack and underwent surgery to place a stent inside his LAD. Thankfully, Nick is now home and recovering. But, while he heals and is unable to work, regular bills on top of medical and hospital bills continue to grow. A Go Fund Me is being set up to help the Daugherty family with some of these bills, in order to stay above water during this time of healing. Thank you so much in advance to anyone that contributes to Nick's cause. If you would like to help the Daugherty family, please visit www.gofundme.com/nick-daughertys-medical-bills.
