Ann Wilson, the legendary lead singer of Heart, rocked the house at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, Florida on June 16th, 2022. Wilson tore through a powerful set with her band, The Amazing Dawgs, proving yet again that she is still the queen of rock and roll. She has been quite busy the past few years, writing new music, putting out singles and EPs, culminating with a full album called Fierce Bliss that was released in April of 2022.

Ann Wilson shows no signs of slowing down, or taking it easy.

Her setlist rocked hard, featuring five of her new songs, which blended perfectly with a collection of Heart classics and cover songs from John Lennon, The Who and Led Zeppelin. Wilson’s powerful voice is as strong as it ever was. She puts her heart and soul into every song, feeding off of the crowd energy. The band was masterful, delivering sonic brilliance to match the lead vocals. Whether it was new songs or all-time classics, the boys were on point and clearly enjoyed every minute of it.

Casino shows often have a strange vibe, as the rockers wind their way through endless rows of slot machines, searching for the venue. The stage at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa is one of the better venues, compared to other casinos. With floor seats right up to stage and four sets of stadium seating directly behind that, the setting is intimate and the sound was perfect.

This show was billed as “An Evening With Ann Wilson”, which was fantastic. After all, who could possibly perform anywhere close to the level of Queen Ann? Fans got a full 90-minute set, which allowed a perfect mix of new and old music, beloved tunes and inspired classic rock covers. Artists seem to put on better shows when they are still actively writing and playing new music. In fact, one of the songs, “Rain Of Hell”, is so new it hasn’t even been released yet! After 50 years of writing incredible songs, this may be Wilson’s heaviest one yet. It’s a real barn-burner and she really belted this one out.

Led Zeppelin may never tour again, so get out to see Ann Wilson (and also Robert Plant with Alison Krauss, who is conveniently also touring) if you want a delicious taste of the songs you grew up on. Wilson is second only to Plant himself when it comes to singing Led Zep live. To find out more about the new album and Ann’s summer tour dates, check out the links below.
