If you have never been to the alternative reggae rock festival Dry Diggings, then buckle up as we tell you why it is YOUR next destination festival event! The California Roots partner festival is returning for two days and the full lineup drop has got us pumped for August!
Nestled in the mountain hills of Placerville, CA, the venue alone is a gem to experience.
Large pine trees, and fruit botanicals surround the event center, making it a beautiful venue to experience visually, especially when the sun sets and the lights of the stage reflect on the crowd’s faces and the surrounding nature. Make sure to grab yourself a pint of your favorite beer while you’re jamming out with your friends to some good tunes. Onsite beer will be provided courtesy of Altamont Beer Works — a craft beer brewery located out of Livermore, California.
The Friday lineup brings us eight-time GRAMMY winner Stephen Marley to headline the night. Yeah, you read that right — he’s won eight times! Day Two is a jam-packed day of musical favorites to include Tribal Seeds, The Expendables, Josh Heinrichs, Arise Roots, Sensi Trails and SF/Bay Area local favorite Thrive. Most of these bands have released new albums and singles, so make sure to listen in to get ready to sing along!
This event has always a favorite of ours, due to its emphasis on being family-friendly. Not every event has the option of onsite camping, but Dry Diggings consistently offers this option to the delight of families and groups of friends. In doing so, Dry Diggings makes for a truly affordable festival experience for all ages. There is even a skatepark where you can drop in while still being able to hear the bands from the stage! There really is something for everyone!
Day Two brings us nine bands in total, including Dirty Heads, Collie Buddz, GRAMMY-nominated Hawaiian reggae favorite Common Kings, HIRIE, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Indubious, Artikal Sound System and Sacramento locals Two Peace. Shout out to Day Two for featuring some our favorite female vocal lead powerhouses! Keep a look out for big things coming from both Artikal Sound System (as they were recently signed to Slightly Stoopid’s own Stoopid Records) and HIRIE as she tours the United States in support of Sublime with Rome and Dirty Heads. Will the Dirty Heads and HIRIE possibly collab for a performance? Get your tickets now to find out!
