WORLD VIDEO PREMIERE: Badda Skat “Hustling”

If you’re a reggae lover around St. Petersburg, Florida, you most likely know of a dreadlocked DJ named Badda Skat. How could you miss him?? Between deejaying at local reggae fests and doing pop-ups around town (many during quarantine!!), Badda Skat is simply a main staple of the east coast reggae scene.

If you haven’t heard of Badda Skat, well, you’re in for a treat.

Top Shelf Music is proud to host the debut of “Hustling” — a song centered around Badda’s tenacious work ethic. Some people take a laidback approach to the music industry. Not Badda Skat. He’s up from dawn till dusk, peddling albums, merch — you name it — for the masses. Now pair that ambitious drive to a dancehall beat, lace it up with fast-paced lyrics and enjoy yourself a go-getting song for all seasons.

Plus, the video is pretty fun to watch! Shot in black and white by Nature Studios (shoutout to TSM’s Porkchop!!), Badda Skat traverses all over St. Pete in search of sales. Well… he doesn’t have to search that hard, since it’s more sales are coming to him. Wouldn’t it be nice if all artistry was in such high demand? As locations range from Campbell Park to Tropicana Field to Snell Arcade to Historic Midtown, you might catch a glimpse of a few recognizable faces! Resinated’s Kenny Mullins walks up, along with Molly Letsch (of The Pineapple Cast), Addison Tabb (of the famed Reggae Rise Up crew) and Mark Boltwood (of Boltz on Board). Talk about a heavy-hitting homegrown lineup!
