Famed rock and roll horn player Curt Ramm emerges out of the COVID era with the lead single off his forthcoming Rogue Island album! Premiering exclusively today on Top Shelf Music, “Smugglers Cove” is one of four singles on the 11-track instrumental reggae soundscape dropping tomorrow on all digital outlets in anticipation of the full album’s July 2nd release via Rockatorium Records.

You might not recognize the name immediately, but we are sure you are well aware of Ramm’s music. As a current member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Ramm has further played with the likes of Nile Rodgers and CHIC, They Might Be Giants, Radiohead, The Levon Helm Band, Glen Hansard and Little Steven. Once the pandemic hit, Ramm had to reassess his journey — as most musicians did without the ability to tour — and Rogue Island manifested as a result after pairing with Rhode Island Music Hall of Famer and producer Ray Gennari (Akae Beka (Midnite), Turbulence, Protoje, Roomful Of Blues, The Temptations, Lustre Kings Productions). Rogue Island actually was a spin-off project from the duo, after collaborating on instrumental versions of songs by Jamaican-born, Rhode Island-based reggae artist Clatta Bumboo (aka Sheldon Townsend). “This collaboration was a joy and a success,” Ramm comments. “And, with the pandemic at its peak, as a way to keep playing and have some fun, Ray and I started to create new songs, similar in style to what I had worked on with Sheldon’s Project.”
Recorded separately and with special guests along the way, Rogue Island is the escape we’ve all been looking for after a prolonged period indoors. And, posited as the lead track is the flowy, fun “Smugglers Cove”. Ramm continues, “We feel that ‘Smugglers Cove’ is the perfect song to kick off Rogue Island, as it captures all of the positive energy and vibes that flow through the rest of the album.”
